With the days shorter and the nights longer, guests headed to the reception will certainly appreciate--and be in awe of--a path illuminated with these ice lanterns. Because tea lights placed into paper bags can be a potential fire hazard, we love these frosty DIY ones. We spotted them over on Design Sponge, and can’t believe how easy they are to make. Simply place a small bucket filled with rocks inside a large bucket filled with water, toss in some pretty greenery, then freeze overnight. One of the hardest areas to decorate at a wedding has got to be the seating card-guest book table. It's the first things guests see when they arrive at your reception, so you want to make a good impression. With that in mind, we knew this DIY project would be the perfect solution. Your finished piece will look just as adorable sitting on the table, as it will look hanging in your home's entryway after the honeymoon. Added bonus: Your future husband will never have an excuse for forgetting your anniversary! To make it, try seeking out a flea market or antique shop to find a great deal on vintage house numbers. You can also try purchasing a few different styles, like these from Anthropologie or Ace Hardware. Mount the numbers to a sturdy backing by pinning or using a silicone adhesive, then frame with a mat board. Finally, place in a frame that reflects your wedding style. It’s hard to make a guestbook standout, but April managed to create one to be remembered. She purchased a library card kit, like this one from BrightFunGifts.com. Upon arrival, her guests filled out the card with a note and their names. Next, they hit up a photo station stocked with a Polaroid camera. After snapping a pic, they slid the photo into the pocket. After the wedding, April assembled all the pieces together to create a personalized, one-of-a-kind guest book. Are you inspired yet? We’re ordering our kit as soon as we sign off here! We're swooning over the idea of making your fiance's boutonniere. It's like a vintage Valentine or the best kind of love letter--and it's so simple to personalize it just for him. April tells us how she made this one for Matt: 1. Cut out three leaf-shaped pieces of thick paper. Glue a piece of floral wire to the back of each. 2. Thread thin jewelry wire through buttons--try hitting up a flea market or a craft store to find ones you like. 3. Bunch them all together like a bouquet, then circle a piece of wire around them to hold them together. 4. Wrap the bottom with twine and ribbon to hide the wire and tied it in knot. 5. Stick a pin through to attach! And she points out to consider unexpected paper—like using pages from a used book or dictionary. Thanks April!
