DIY Winter Wonderland Lanterns

012910_StudioDreyerHensley_Icelatern

With the days shorter and the nights longer, guests headed to the reception will certainly appreciate--and be in awe of--a path illuminated with these ice lanterns. Because tea lights placed into paper bags can be a potential fire hazard, we love these frosty DIY ones.

We spotted them over on Design Sponge, and can’t believe how easy they are to make. Simply place a small bucket filled with rocks inside a large bucket filled with water, toss in some pretty greenery, then freeze overnight. Add a votive, and voila, you have a gorgeous, glacial glow.--Jen DeRose

I am so glad i found this.

I am having my wedding in the area where i grew up. Unfortunately it was destroyed by fires a few years ago so as much as i wanted a pretty candle lit up entrance i didnt want to do the paper bags because of the fire risk - especially as the weddings is may and likely to be windy here in Australia. I didnt want to buy glass holders because of the risk of them breaking.

With these i can have these out the front of my reception and they will be perfect - the look of glass but still have that romantic feel. Love this idea so much thanks so much for sharing it.

I love that this must be the easiest clean up ever. Just remove the candles and let the ice slowly melt.

That is so nice and you can make it look really elegant. I'd add some frozen cranberries too to play up the festive look. Just maybe wait until it is semi frozen so the berries are all through the ice.

Great Idea!

i really like this idea because of the potential hazard with using paper bags or paper lanterns. Wonderful!
