Why toss out your floral centerpieces after the big day when you can pass them on to guests as favors or replant them in your own garden? Use this easy tutorial from Elizabeth Woodson of Elizabeth W. Gift Baskets and Shindig 411 to create your own double- (or triple-) duty centerpiece. Materials Flower flats (try The Home Depot, Lowe's or Walmart for six- or eight-packs starting at under $2) Planters or baskets Spanish moss Small clay or peat pots or buckets Tags Ribbon or pins Step 1: Repot individual plants in whichever small containers you've selected. Step 2: Print small tags with your names and wedding date or a thank-you message. Tie the tags around the plants with a pretty ribbon, or stick them in the dirt using a pin. Step 3: Put the flower pots in your larger basket or container, filling in any spaces with Spanish moss. Then, at your wedding, instruct your guests to pluck a pot from the centerpiece to take home at the end of the evening. Alternative: If you'd prefer to bring the flowers home to your own garden, skip the repotting and nestle the entire flats in the larger baskets. Cut individual compartments apart as needed to fit in the containers. After your wedding, bring the centerpieces home and plant wherever you'd like! See more of Elizabeth's creations at Elizabeth W. Very clever for a "green" centerpiece.
