On Monday, Elizabeth Woodson of Elizabeth W. Gift Baskets and Shindig 411 showed you how to make these yummy spice rubs. Today, she has two great ways to package them for your guests. April 29, 2009
The pretty paper at left (Snow & Graham's "Sprout" design) comes from Broadway Paper, where you'll find tons more great patterns. Once you have a paper that matches your theme, wrap it around short, square vases using double-sided tape. (Round vases also work, but they make it a little trickier to keep the paper from getting wrinkled.) Since the vases will be covered up, go for the most inexpensive ones you can find -- no one will ever tell the difference. After you wrap the vase, tie a coordinating ribbon around it. (We'd use green for the paper at left.) Then, fill it with lots of short flowers, also in a coordinating color (we'd go for green or white). Using relatively short flowers in a single color will make the bouquets appear much fuller. Image: Broadway Paper April 28, 2009

With grilling season fast approaching, these spice rubs from Elizabeth Woodson of Elizabeth W. Gift Baskets and Shindig 411 make the perfect wedding favors. The "Sugar & Spice" rub is sweet and spicy and goes perfectly with fish and poultry, while the curry-based "Everything Nice" rub pairs well with chicken, beef and pork. Today, we'll show you how to make the rubs. Check back on Thursday for fun packaging instructions. April 24, 2009
Skip the traditional guest book and create a beautiful display out of your friends' and family's good wishes. It's easy to create this look on your own -- all you need are potted flower branches and pretty cards for guests to write on. Cherry, apple or peach blossom or magnolia branches will work well for this. You could also try manzanita or curly willow branches, which look pretty on their own or with cymbidium or dendrobium orchids or carnations wired on. Set pens and a stack of cards with ribbons for hanging nearby, and you're all set! We love the idea of asking guests to write their specific wishes or advice for you on the cards rather than simply signing their names and writing a generic congratulatory message. After your wedding, collect the cards in a nice chest or box for the perfect keepsake. Image: Sara Remington/Anna Kuperberg Photography April 23, 2009
Put a twist on the classic save-the-date magnet with this bright project from Chelsea of the adorable blog and Etsy store Paper*Cakes. April 22, 2009
Embellish the lanterns with simple number stickers on the front (find tons of great options at Stickers Galore) and basic cards with guests' names tied around the handle with ribbon or string. Customize the colors, cardstock, ribbon and font to fit your wedding theme. Fill the lanterns with tiny tea lights (these are easy to buy in bulk -- we found 100 for $6 on Amazon) before your big day, but keep them unlit when they're on the escort table. Then, when the lights dim for dessert, have a few servers walk around and light all the candles. Instant mood setter! Image: Michaels April 21, 2009

Finding the perfect bridesmaids gift is easy -- the biggest problem you're likely to face is the agonizing decision between all the great options. Coming by a decent groomsmans gift, though, is a little trickier. Save yourself the shopping hassle with this cool project from from Lisa Tse of Inkbox Design Boutique. Her fun groomsman T-shirts are inexpensive and easy to make. Bonus: She also has a great technique for packaging the finished product. We're so excited to feature this quirky cupcake tower from awesome designer (and recent newlywed!) Lori Federico. Here's how she put it together: "I actually just ordered the basic cardboard design from Cupcaketree.com, since it was reasonably priced and I can’t cut forms very well. Plus, it’s recyclable. But you can definitely build yours out of things like styrofoam cake forms and boards from cake and craft supply stores if that’s your cup of tea. "There are so many options to decorate it. You can use paper, ribbon, cloth or anything else that you can figure out how to attach! I originally looked for vintage maps on eBay, but ended up ordering these large sheets of wrapping paper with maps of Italy on them. Since my husband is Italian, I thought this would be a great little way to celebrate his heritage." ![]() Get up-to-the-minute celebrity wedding news and Hollywood-inspired planning tips and tricks at CelebrityWeddingBuzz.com. ![]() For expert etiquette and planning advice, visit WeddingChannel.com -- the number one wedding and gift registry website! |
